GIVE | ACT | SERVE | INSPIRE - These are not just words to us or a service we provide ~ This is Who We Are ~
Through our GIVE | ACT | SERVE | INSPIRE outreach, EWC is committed to giving hope to the lost and hurting both at home and abroad by forming strategic partnerships with local & global organizations that are assisting the poor, caring for the sick, planting churches and educating future generations.
We have a strong dedication to reach out into our community and demonstrate the love of Jesus. The only way the world will experience the love of God is when we GIVE. We must ACT by becoming God's hands extended to this hurting world. As Jesus came to serve others, we SERVE our community by reaching into the lives of those who have been overlooked or forgotten by society. When we GIVE | ACT | SERVE, we INSPIRE others to look past their own need and help others.
Several years ago we made a decision not to duplicate local outreach programs that are doing an excellent job providing hope to our community. Instead, we have chosen to provide financial and volunteer support by partnering with a handful of local ministries that are serving our community.
Our vision is to see people develop a servant’s heart, a passion for God and a love for others through serving at home and supporting others around the world. We want to see lives fully surrendered to Him as we serve one another in love so that all nations may know that He alone is God.
The Asheville Homeless Outreach Project [AHOP} is an initiative of the East-West Church to help people experiencing homelessness. It is our way to provide warm coats & blankets while financially supporting local volunteers who provide food, spiritual and intellectual needs for those experiencing homelessness.
Each day, hunger is experienced in every community across this country. Ending hunger in America depends on the volunteer work of literally millions of Americans who know that they can make a difference. We at the East West Church are doing our part to help end hunger in our local community. MUST Ministries provides canned and other non-perishable goods free of charge to Cobb and Cherokee County residents in need. Families and individuals may obtain food through one of their three food pantries Monday thru Friday from 10am-2pm
Pastors Joel and Yvonne Trimble were called to reach the unchurched of Haiti by providing caring structures for families and knowledge of spiritual gifts. As indigenous missionaries, they understand the region and provide basic humanitarian aid to the poorest areas of rural Haiti. Other activities include initiatives in the field of education, health, improved housing, and other basic material needs. We support them as they seek to help the villagers establish independent economic development by providing them with agricultural business opportunities that utilize their own resources.
Developing stronger connections between older adults and their community can have tremendous benefits for both young and old. Our ongoing visitation program affords understanding and trust to develop, which are essential for a real connection between people of any age. We are often the only persons to visit many of our seniors throughout the year. With an estimated 30% area nursing home residents having no family in the area or people to visit them, we want to make sure that those residents' are not forgotten at Christmas. Every Christmas we adopt over 150 seniors at a local nursing center to provide them with basic supplies.
CAP is an interdenominational, non-profit Christian organization committed to serving people in need in Appalachia by providing physical, spiritual and emotional support through a wide variety of programs and services.
Song of Jonah Ministries works in conjunction with Set Free After-Care Ministries, the Jacob House Project and the Dept of Corrections Faith Based Character Development Program. Their primary goal is to direct the formerly incarcerated to a structured Christian environment designed to motivate and assist men and women recovering from life crises, incarceration, addictive behaviors, brokenness and homelessness.
We are not only supporting the delivery of fresh, clean water with every well, but the wells become an ongoing witness of the love of God in the community. Every well is a wonderful gift of life. We are blessed to be a part of making this happen.
The East West Outreach works closely with the American Red Cross by organizing blood drives several times a year at our church. Please be sure to keep an eye on our events calendar often to ensure you do not miss an opportunity to help East West Outreach and the American Red Cross save lives.
Sponsoring children in need is breaking the cycle of poverty. Compassion International exists as a Christian child advocacy ministry that releases children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults.
Many children are born to Lao women imprisoned in Thailand for life. Their fathers are most likely prison guards. The children are permitted to live in the prison with their mother until they are three years old. They are then separated from their mothers and usually go to a government-run facility, from where they generally enter a life of sexual slavery, prostitution and drugs. Missionaries Jeff and Michele Dove have built an excellent rapport with the prison warden and minister to the prisoners. Because of their relationships and the excellent reputation of Bethesda Children's Home at Chiang Rai, many of the mothers now choose to place their children with the Doves.
