Bishop's Response to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

9

As a Pastor, I always seek the Lord for guidance and wisdom. His word tells us if we pray for wisdom, He will give it to us, generously and graciously. But we are cautioned that when we ask, to be sure that our faith is in God alone.

Jesus also told us not to be troubled or afraid. He knew that fear would paralyze our ability to respond to life's difficult challenges. As I said recently, "to experience a life without limits, you'll have to deal with things you never see coming."

We need to use wisdom when dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, not fear. God does not give us a spirit of fear; He gives us power, love, and self-control. I believe once you submit to fear, you surrender your power, love, and all self-control.

Knowing that God gives us wisdom, and Jesus is with us, we need to put our faith in action.

Be Proactive:

We have to take this threat seriously. Simply washing your hands for 20 seconds, and avoiding people who are sick can reduce most people's chances of being infected. However, older people and people with severe chronic conditions should avoid crowds because they are at a higher risk of developing serious COVID-19 illness.  The CDC also recommends that anyone who is sick should stay home.

Following the recommendations of the CDC is not a lack of faith, it using wisdom.  And, as the Pastor of East-West Church, if you or a family member are sick with flu-like symptoms, we prefer you to stay home. If you don't do it for yourself, do it for those in your church family whose immune system may not be as strong as others.

Be in Prayer:

We need to pray the Lord will touch those who are infected and their families. We must call out to God and ask for His divine intervention to protect our families, friends, the healthcare workers, our country, and its citizens. Let's not forget to pray for wisdom over Vice President Pence, and the team around him responding to this crisis.

Be the Example:

As Christians, we have an incredible opportunity to show those around us that when we are in the lion's den, we will not fear, but remain calm and use wisdom, knowing that our God is our source and strength.

Thank you for the affirmation that everything will be fine. I am standing in agreement with my Bishop that all is well. This too will pass and God never gives us anything that we can’t handle. He is the God of all power nothing is to stuff fo my Lord. AMEN

Thank you Bishop for affirming that the older ones with underlying health issues should stay at home. My prayers go out to all afflicted with this Covid19 and pray for a miraculous eradication of this virus from our planet.

Wonderful Biblical and solid advice. I know you’ve been in prayer seeking what God would have you do. Because of work I’ve had to go through the Atlanta Airport twice this week. I would love to be at church but since I’ve possibly been exposed, I’m staying home. I would love to see my mom but I feel it’s in our best interest that I isolate myself and not be near her or expose any church family. I would rather be safe and not sorry. I couldn’t live with myself. I’ll be joining my church family in prayer! I so wish the services were live on Facebook or another venue!

Thank you Bishop! God is our source! With God, we can get through this terrible situation! God is more powerful! We serve a mighty God! Praying for VP Pence, President, our country, our Bishop, our church family, and our own families!❤️

Don’t drift into fear and anxiety, because that’s destructive. Leave your fears at the cross and pray diligently. Do what’s in the best interest of you and your family.

Sound advice

Standing in agreement with you, Bishop. I have complete and utter faith in my Heavenly Father and am not afraid of what is happening. I am merely taking precautions to guard my health and the health of my family. Thank you for your encouraging words.

Amen, Bishop. I am not afraid, for I know where my help comes from and as a Child of God, I know that He is with me at all times and will keep me safe and well. I pray for the ones that are out of control buying all the food and toilet paper, who are creating a crisis of a whole nother kind! Lord, help us get through this madness and heal the ones that have been affected.

Great wisdom and solid biblical advice!!
Praying for peace comfort and strength to all who are affected.
Also praying for an end to this terrible situation!!
God be with us all
